National PTA Vision: Making every child’s potential a reality.

Mission: Mark Twain PTSA’s purpose is to be a strong voice for children and a resource for our families, school, and community. We will do this by providing volunteer and financial support for programs and activities that enhance our children’s education. We will strive to do our best to engage and empower our children, families, educators, and community through communication, advocacy, and collaboration. 

SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) 

Support Education 

  • Grant money to the school to offset teacher, curriculum, and supply expenses.
  • Fund cultural and/or educational enrichment programs, academic tutoring and in house education for example Explore Art program.
  • Support Twain’s School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Provide innovative and creative learning opportunities.  

Foster a Strong School Community 

  • Sponsor family fun and community events that foster school spirit, encourage family unity, and promote charitable efforts within our community.
  • Provide a student directory to members.
  • Sell spirit wear and Yearbook.
  • Provide support to students with disabilities, ELL students, students in-need and recently immigrated students and their families.
  • Assess the needs of Twain PTSA’s membership.
  • Implement PTSA programs to highlight and celebrate our community’s growing diversity and multi-cultural composition.
  • Explore outreach methods so we can better serve all families in the community promoting that there is a place for everyone within the PTSA.
  • Support projects that promote health, safety and well-being in our school 

Maintain a Healthy PTSA Organization 

  • Recognize volunteer contributions.
  • Encourage and organize volunteer support for PTSA and school programs and events.
  • Increase interest, involvement, and understanding of the PTSA.
  • Strengthen relationships between our families and school staff.
  • Inform our school community about what the PTSA does and the benefits of being a PTSA member to promote 100% membership.

Communicate Effectively

  • Provide ongoing, updated information about PTSA and school events and programs through the Bobcat Blurb, the PTSA website (, and social media.
  • Look for ways to minimize paper usage and encourage use of electronic forms of communication.
  • Work to continually assess and improve our communication tools. 

Fund Our Work 

  • Maintain a financially stable, responsible, and well-managed organization.
  • Strategically fundraise to support programs and events at Twain.
  • Continue to educate the school community about fundraising, budgeting, and grants. 

Advocate on Behalf of Children 

  • Inform the school community about current education issues and policies that affect our community.
  • Encourage advocacy on behalf of children at the state and local level.
  • Inform our community about bonds and levies. 

Serve Our Community 

  • Support Associated Student Body (ASB) and other school related student service programs.
  • Support programs that provide awareness and celebration of the diversity in our community.
  • Support parents in developing skills to raise, protect, and advocate for their children.
  • Participate in and/or organize community service activities.
