STEAM Enrichment
EXPLORE ART
Explore Art is a volunteer run art curriculum sponsored by Twain PTSA. Volunteers receive training to become art docents who facilitate grade-level appropriate lessons in art elements, principles and techniques. The lessons culminate in an exhibition at the end of the school year called the Gallery Walk, where families can visit and enjoy a gallery filled with paintings, drawings, clay sculptures, and other works of art created by our students.
book fair
Twain PTSA partners with Scholastic to run our annual book fair. Students and families have the opportunity to browse a wide selection of books ranging from newly released and best sellers to award-winning titles and perennial favorites. Families have an opportunity to donate books to Twain classrooms. The PTSA receive a portion of all sales and uses this purchase books for Twain families in need.
SCHOOL PLAY
Every year, Twain students collaborate to put on a musical production for our community to enjoy. These musical productions provide our students with the opportunity to express themselves, learn new skills and work together toward a common goal. Tickets always sell out so don't wait until the last minute to purchase yours!
SCIENCE FAIR
Our annual Science Fair features live science demonstrations, hands-on science activities, and loads of fabulous student science projects. Students present their projects to “visiting scientists” and some lucky attendees will win a door prize.
REFLECTIONS
Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life. In response to a theme, students create original works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. Finalists from local PTAs may move to subsequent rounds with their council PTA, State PTA and ultimately the National PTA.
EARTH MONTH
Coinciding with Earth Month in April, Twain PTSA works to empower students to learn about sustainability issues and take action to improve the state of our planet. Join us for a variety of enriching experiences such as seed planting, clothes mending, consignment shopping, recycling on campus and more!
