Spring Cleaning!

4/3/2023 1:02 pm

Giving a second life to used clothing and other threads is a GREAT way to help our planet.

Mark Twain's PTSA has partnered with several local businesses this month to help put threads recycling right at your fingertips!

Do you have clothes, shoes, hats, purses, towels, or other linens in good/usable condition that you no longer need? Drop them in the USAGAIN bin, conveniently located right in Mark Twain's parking lot. We earn a percentage of all donations, and are entered in a contest to win up to $1500 for goods donated now through April 15th!

Have a special piece of clothing or beloved stuffy that has a hole, rip, or stain on it, but you're not quite ready to part with it? Bring it to our MEND-IT-MONDAY event, located in Twain's cafeteria on Monday, April 24th from 6-8pm. Our team of skilled volunteers will teach you how to repair and reuse your items!

Have threads that are beyond repair, but still want to save them from the landfill? Consider signing up for RIDWELL, a local recycling company that will collect used threads (and other hard to recycle items such as styrofoam and plastic film), right from your doorstep! Sign up for Ridwell between now and May 9th using get.ridwell.com/mark-twain and Ridwell will donate $25 to our school!

Looking for new clothes or shoes for your kiddo, but want to pay a fraction of the cost, avoid the environmental impact of shopping new, AND support both a local business and Twain PTSA all at the same time?!?! Check out the SMALL THREADS pop-up shop for children's consignment items that will conveniently take place during after-school pick up, right under the covered area by the playground. Kids can play while parents shop to support our school and save the planet!
