Thank you, Green Week Volunteers!

GREEN WEEK 2023 WAS HUGE SUCCESS THIS YEAR, AND WE WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE MANY VOLUNTEERS THAT STEPPED UP AND MADE IT HAPPEN!

We had so many kids walking, biking, and riding the bus to school all week. Thank you to the volunteers that greeted our students with drawing tickets, fruit, and friendly smiles... Divya Rangaswamy, Heather Scott, Melanie Walling, Amanda Jackson, Melissa Monahan, Janani Kartik, Silvia Madrova, and Janine Sorenson.

We had a small, but mighty turn-out for Mend-it Monday, and our sewing volunteers were absolutely amazing! If you missed this event this year, mark your calendars early next year and attend. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you for such a cool night!... Andrea Unangst, Heather Scott, Ruth Tomandl, Naomi Kinney, Christine Woskett, Kristine Boehnen Schmidt, Nicole Warner, Tina Mehrotra, Denise Lemieux, Ellin Waldman, and Tonya Ablas.

Our collaboration with Small Threads introduced the school to our local children’s consignment shop. Thank you Janine Sorenson, Qing Chen, Mrinali Marthur, and Ping Ping Hsia for helping facilitate our pop up shop, and thank you to all the families that either shopped or donated goods on behalf of Twain!

I’m sure many families currently have seed pots on their window sill from our most popular event, Farming Friday. Together, our students planted almost 800 seeds! Thank you to the volunteers who braved the crowds and tamed the chaos to make this planting event possible!... McGinnes Ladd, Sarah Oh, Clara Sotelo, Ping Ping Hsia, and Janine Sorenson. We had so much fun and hope your kiddos did too.

Thank you to the village that made it all happen, including Twain Green Team advisor Sandy Vold who rallied the 5th graders as they made presentations to all the classes on plastic film recycling and who hosted many GT meetings at lunch in preparation for Green Week.

Finally, a BIG thank you to the Green Week Team Leaders for their months-long planning efforts, Sustainability Co-Chairs Sarah De la Cruz and Kate Winzig. You both put together an amazing week of programming and our community is richer because of it. Thank you!
