Join a School Committee
11/13/2024 1:14 pm
The school is looking for parents interested in joining one of their committees. Please see this message from Principal Goodfellow:
At Twain we are looking to increase parent participation in our school committees. Our regular schedule is to meet in the mornings before school (8:00-8:55), typically on a Thursday. We are also looking for those we could reach out to when making decisions.
Safety Committee:
Monthly meeting to discuss safety concerns, address drills for the month and review accident reports. This is a district required meeting. We appreciate, Jola Paliswiat, our PTSA Emergency Preparedness chair and two other parents who are interested in this important work. The Safety committee has a set agenda and addresses a broad range of safety concerns. If you have safety concerns, please feel free to reach out to Audrey @ agallagher@lwsd.org
Restorative Practices:
Monthly meetings to support implementation of community building circles and activities. Team members from this committee are receiving training and support from the district student services department. The goal of this committee is to strengthen relationships. We use restorative conversations when harm occurs at Twain. The goal of restorative practices is to plan WITH our students.
School Wide Culture and Celebrations:
International Day was a testament to our diverse and exciting community. We would love your support and ideas to join our Culture and Celebrations committee work. This committee is planning assemblies and activities at Twain – please share your ideas. Do you have a game that would be fun to teach at recess? Is there a holiday that we may not know about from your culture? Would you be interested in teaching a dance or sharing a lesson? We are better together!
Equity Team:
Our school-based equity team works to promote equity and inclusivity within the school. We assess and address inequities, develop actionable equity plans, and foster inclusive environments. The team collaborates with diverse stakeholders, monitors progress, and builds the capacity of school staff and community members to support ongoing equity efforts. Our goal is to create a more equitable school environment for everyone involved.
Thank you for considering lending your time and talent to our Twain Community!
